Applications are invited from eligible candidates for Entrance Examination to coursework leading to Ph.D. Programme for the year 2017-18.
Eligibility to apply & syllabus for Entrance Examination : Candidates who have secured not less than 55% marks in the Masters Degree Examination concerned are eligible to apply for the test/Ph.D. admission. Regular teachers from Government/Aided Colleges & University Departments and candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy-layer) and physically handicapped, with 50% marks are eligible to apply for the admission. The entrance test will be of three hours duration and will carry a maximum of 100 marks including objective and descriptive questions. Syllabus for the entrance test will be based on the syllabus for UGC/CSIR/NET examinations. Candidates with 50% marks in the entrance examination (35% for SC/ST candidates) shall be eligible for registration to course work leading to Ph.D. Programme. There will be no revaluation of answer scripts. The Candidates who qualify the Entrance Test and candidates exempted from entrance are to attend the Doctoral Committee meeting along with the research guide and with the synopsis of their concerned topic of research. Only those candidates recommended by the Doctoral Committee be granted registration to Course Work & Ph D Programme.

Kannur University was established by the Act 22 of 1996 of Kerala Legislative Assembly. The University by the name “Malabar University” had come into existence even earlier by the promulgaton of an Ordinance by the Governor of Kerala, on 9th November 1995. The University was inaugurated on 2nd March 1996 by the Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala.
